so…what are we?

me! or at least Apple’s rendition of me

Hi! My name is Tiana and this is my … blog? Journal? Replacement for therapy? I’m not yet sure what this is exactly, but I’ll take this as an opportunity to talk about what this space is going to talk about and why I’ve started it. Think of this as the awkward “what are we?” conversation that happens with every couple — a virtual DTR (define the relationship), if you will.

Normally when a couple has this conversation they’re way past the introductions stage, so let’s get that out of the way, shall we? Like I said, my name is Tiana and I’m a twenty-something, neurodivergent, young-professional. I’d tell you more, but honestly, I’m still trying to figure a lot of that out myself, like what my career is going to look like, what my passions are, and how I can make an impact on the world and the people around me.

Existentialism aside, the main reason I started this blog is to write about my experiences and thoughts as I navigate a recent change in my life. Well, it’s more so a realization than a change, but it’s pretty big nonetheless. You see, recently I was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD or just ‘autism’ for short) and, being in my early twenties, this was news to me. The diagnosis hasn’t really changed anything — I’ve always been autistic — but it’s led to a lot of self-reflection, rumination, and a new-found curiosity for understanding how my brain works and takes in the world. I want to share those thoughts, reflections, and other synonyms here and hopefully, someone finds them if not helpful, at least interesting (and grammatically correct at minimum).

That being said, that does not mean that this will necessarily be an “autism blog”. I want to use this space to write about my experiences at large: as a woman, a Gen Z/Millennial cusper (zillennial?), a wannabe writer, a logic puzzle fanatic, and yes, an autistic adult.

I think that defines my side of the relationship pretty well. As for what I can expect from you? Not much, to be honest — just read and enjoy. Feel free to shop around, read other blogs, I don’t mind. We can keep it casual if you’d like.
